| The University of Sanata Dharma invited the Scientology Disaster Relief Team to present a Dianetics Seminar to their students. |
The Scientology Disaster Relief Team in Yogyakarta is helping survivors overcome the trauma with the use of Dianetics technology. The 6.2 magnitude earthquake in May left 20,000 injured and an estimated 3.2 million homeless. There are few who haven't experienced the loss of a loved one, home or possessions or a complete disruption on their lives.
Devastation of this magnitude can have a terrible emotional and spiritual effect on the survivors. From their work in the aftermath of the 2004 tsunami in Medan and Banda Aceh, Indonesia, the Scientology Volunteer Ministers realized that Dianetics technology was an essential component in helping the Javanese. The word Dianetics comes from the Greek words dia, meaning "through", and nous, meaning "soul" and is defined as "what the soul is doing to the body." Dianetics can help the individual experience relief from unwanted emotions and loss.
As the original team of volunteers were from Australia, language proved to be a barrier to training local residents in this technology. So they called on members of the Scientology group in Medan, Indonesia, who arrived in Yogyakarta and took on the job of delivering Dianetics seminars in hospitals, villages and at universities such as the University of Sanata Dharma.
More than 200 people in Yogyakarta including students and relief workers have now been trained in Dianetics seminars and are providing this technology to help the people of the region recover from the shock and emotional and spiritual effects of the disaster.
